Bring Town Hall To You

We believe that arts education should be accessible to all. That's why we strive to foster a flourishing community that brings together performers, students, and audiences through creative experiences. Student Matinees

Our Student Matinee Series offers affordable daytime performances that allow young people in our community to experience the stories we tell on stage while surrounded by their peers. These performances feature earlier hours, shorter shows, and performances built for wider audiences.

Residency Programs

Town Hall Education is proud to partner with schools and community groups in the Lamorinda and Contra Costa areas to bring theatre education to even more places.

Like our onsite classes, Town Hall Education’s Residencies provide a process-based and engaging theatrical experience to students of all ages. Our core values are empowerment, connection and empathy, trust, collaboration, creativity, and commitment.

Young Playwrights Program

The Young Playwrights Program (YPP) and Festival (YPF) is an opportunity for high school students to develop and produce new theatre pieces. We bring theatre artists to your classroom for a one day free workshop to teach students more about the creative development of playwriting. Students will discuss ideas and practice scene writing with theatre artists and have the opportunity to submit their work for production in our Young Playwrights Festival coming up in early 2026. Submissions in the Festival are not required, but suggested.

One report, Critical Links, demonstrates that arts education helps close the achievement gap, improves academic skills essential for reading and language development, and advances students’ motivation to learn. The Young Playwrights Program helps close that gap, bringing theatre makers and students together to bring new voices to the stage.

This program is supported by the Lafayette Community Foundation. This support helps us bring arts programming to local schools and to all students for free.
