About the Event

In a final attempt to save the couple, Friar Lawrence has devised a plan to fake Juliet’s death, thus allowing Romeo and Juliet to escape and be together forever. There is just one problem. He sends the letter informing Romeo of this plan by way of one Friar John who just so happens to get himself locked up in a plague house before the letter can be delivered, thus dooming the couple forever. At least...that's how the story goes.

Eleven Variations on Friar John’s Failure explores eleven much more plausible reasons as to why Friar John failed to deliver the letter. From being accosted by Robin Hood to being mistaken for Hamlet, this one act comedy by Yuri Baranovsky is a lighthearted exploration of love, luck, and timeless tales. Soon, reality becomes irrelevant and all that remains is the humor and joy of generations of storytellers and one very confused friar.
