After-school theatre classes for students in PreK-High School

Six sessions at Town Hall Studio in Lafayette.

Town Hall Education's weekly Winter Classes give young performers a chance to make bold choices, build confidence, boost creativity, work as a team, and grow in their craft – all while having plenty of fun along the way.

Grades PreK–1 Thursdays 4:00–5:00 pm

Confident Kids

Join us for a class of theater games, crafts, and activities built to grow student skills and confident kids. This program blends theater skills with skills we use in everyday life, such as taking turns, speaking up, teamwork, and moving with confidence.

Six sessions, December 3 to January 21. No class December 24 or 31.

Who would enjoy this program?

Recommended for beginners to the world of theater, kids looking to expand their creativity, or natural storytellers.

Students must be able to handle a 1 hour program and be able to use the restroom entirely independently.

First graders are welcome to enroll in either eligible class depending on their interest and experience.

Grades 1–3 Tuesdays 4:00–5:30 pm

Stage the Number

Students in this skills based program will practice and build on acting, singing, and dance basics by learning and staging songs and scenes from young actor-friendly musicals, like The Wizard of Oz, Seussical, Annie, and more. Students will gain skills in memorization and repetition, confidence on the stage, voice, teamwork, and emotional expression with the body. No previous theater experience required, this is a class to learn and grow.

Six sessions, December 1 to January 19. No class December 22 or 29.

Who would enjoy this program?

Students who are newer to theater who are looking to grow repeatable skills for the stage. No previous theater experience required, but recommended for 1st graders looking to join the program.

First graders and third graders are welcome to enroll in either eligible class depending on their interest and experience.

Grades 3–5 Mondays 4:00–6:00 pm

Page to Stage

Students in this skills based program will learn how to bring characters to life on the stage through introductions to script analysis, character development, and beginning world building. Young actors can expect to read a variety of scenes from youth-friendly plays and musicals as they gain skills in teamwork, confidence in making bold choices, voice acting for the stage, and emotional expression in the body.

Six sessions, November 30 to January 18. No class December 21 or 28.

Who would enjoy this program?

Students who are looking to grow their skills for the stage to deepen understanding in their craft. No previous theater experience required, but especially recommended for young actors looking to join the program.

Third graders are welcome to enroll in either eligible class depending on their interest and experience.

Grades 6–12 Thursdays 5:30–7:30 pm

Acting Studio

Through a collection of contemporary and classic plays, students in this program will learn how to dive deeper into the world of each play through script analysis, world building, and character creation. This program is additionally built to grow skills in observation, text analysis, and physicality as students bring each script to life on stage. Previous experience in the theater recommended, but not required.

Six sessions, December 3 to January 21. No class December 24 or 31.

Who would enjoy this program?

Great for actors looking to dive into world building, trying on new characters each week, or wanting to hone their skills as a practice for future productions.
